Karaktär

Fruktig och aromatisk doft med inslag av björnbär, plommon, anis, choklad, kanel, kryddnejlika och fat. Smaken är fyllig och mycket fruktdriven med tydlig rostad fatkaraktär. Lång eftersmak med finstämd mineralitet.

Lagring

Vinet har lagrats 12 månader i amerikanska ekfat, så kallade hogsheads. Vinet kan drickas ungt med kan också med fördel lagras ända fram till 2045.

Passar till

Serveras vid 16-18°C till smakrika rätter av lamm, nöt eller lättare vilt.

Information

Penfolds grundades av den engelska doktorn doktor Christopher Rawson Penfolds och hans hustru Mary, som 1845 köpte en mindre gård utanför Adelaide. Gården döptes till The Grange efter Marys tidigare hem i England.

Recensioner

The 2022 Bin 28 Shiraz differs from the 128 in that the latter is sourced solely from Coonawarra and matured in French oak. Here, the Bin 28 comes from McLaren Vale, Barossa Valley, Padthaway and Wrattonbully and matured in American oak. I find this wine to be concentrated and fierce, with plentiful tannins that are a little rugged. They frame the succulent, ripe, juicy fruit and present the wine as a complete package. This is a huge wine, and fans of the style will be thrilled this season because it is a lot of everything: beautiful fruit, abundant tannin, obvious oak and enduring length. Drink Date: 2024 - 2042
